Hello my friends,
It’s been a while. I’m so grateful for your patience in between newsletters. I had every intention of publishing this on Solstice (poetic!), but sometimes things just take longer than we want them to, which has kind of been the theme of 2024 for me (also poetic!). I’ve had a chrysalis year, lots of ruminating, learning, and hopefully growing, and I’m feeling ready for my butterfly transformation in 2025. Starting now, with my musings for the season.
As usual I’ve included my moodboard, some key imagery, and a peek at the ideas speaking to me this season. I always break down my inspiration into colour, texture, and silhouette, and I encourage everyone to try this method for any inspiration that crosses your desk. I also chatted through these ideas with additional images for Youtube!
My keywords for the season are: Cozy- Nostalgic- Unexpected- Practical
I’m focusing on textiles that feel as good as they look, style signatures, comfortable footwear, unexpected colour combinations, gorp-y references, and styling that feels playful and practical for my everyday life.

Colour- I recently updated my colour story to better reflect what I’ve been reaching for lately, and added the colours that are currently on my radar. Burgundy (carried over from Fall), rich teal, 90s inspired turquoise, and pale pink are my wildcard colours for the season.
The thing that excites me most about these colours is how they interact with my already established palette- I’m picturing fuzzy pink socks with my red sweats and brown wool coat, deep teal with butter yellow and heather grey, a turquoise and burgundy striped mohair toque (next up on my knitting list!). Whenever I’m exploring a new colour in my palette I always start with something low stakes and easy to acquire like an accessory- a silk scrunchie, a canvas tote bag, a pair of socks, etc.

The wildcards are sometimes colours that are totally new to my palette, and sometimes existing accent or baseline colours that I want to focus some attention on. I already have a few pieces in this bright, 90s turquoise and I’m excited to feature them in interesting combinations :)

Texture- I’m talking cold weather classics like shearling, tweed, boiled wool, corduroy, soft and fluffy puffers, and freakier elements like feathers, weird beads, unexpected metallics, fuzzy socks.
I find that texture is an area of my wardrobe that’s lacking in variety. I go hard on my tried and true favourites like chunky knits, corduroy, and canvas, but I don’t branch out as much as I would like. I’m craving some freshness and some fun and I think leaning into some unexpected textures will scratch that itch.

Silhouette- another area of my wardrobe where I find myself yearning for some freshness! I love the simple, slouchy silhouette that I wear most days, and I want to find some ways to add interest through styling and acquisition. For styling ideas- I’m thinking slouchy pants tucked into socks and leg warmers (and boots if I can find some), and scarves worn across the chest and shoulders and held in place with a brooch. I’m also keeping my eyes peeled for tops with a high neckline (or maybe even a funnel) that I can tuck my hair into, and I’m about 75% of the way done with my poncho knitting project (now wishing I had added a hood like the one below). I’m back on my sewing beat and might attempt a cool high neck cape situation if I can source some cozy boiled wool.

As always, this is not intended as a trend report or list of recommendations- simply a collection of the ideas that are resonating for me this Winter that I wanted to share. Maybe some of the specific things mentioned will spark interest for you, but if not, I hope at the very least this newsletter will inspire you to investigate your own interests a little deeper instead of simply clicking “add to cart” when you see something you like. Breaking down your inspiration into colour/texture/silhouette will help you to better understand why you like that outfit/item/idea, which will help you to make more informed choices when bringing in new pieces.
I’ve heard from so many of you over the years that my content brings you comfort, and I don’t quite have the words to express how much that means to me. I want to continue to provide some comfort for you, and I hope to offer a space where you feel safe from the pressure to consume. 2024 was a difficult year for so many reasons, and I’m feeling the need to re-evaluate my relationship with content creation and social media in general for 2025. I’m not sure how things are going to shake out just yet, but I hope you’ll stick around to find out.

Color work is beautiful! Would love to read more about this process
I love the way you combined colors with your new ~wildcards~ That is such a great idea! Off topic, but what products do you use for your curly hair? I also have curly hair and struggle with keeping my hair happy and moisturized in the winter. My hair is fine.
