Hello my friends!
Now that the vibe for Fall has been established, it’s time for a wish list. If you are a new reader I encourage you to check out the video below where I go into detail about my wish list creation method. To summarize the video, this is a wish list, not a shopping list, and it is likely that I will only actually acquire a couple of these pieces this season (thrift spirits permitting). I am not in a position to be buying a whole new wardrobe each season, and I wouldn’t want to anyway :)
Another thing I wanted to touch on is the difference between the Big List™️, and the seasonal Wish List. The Big List™️ is the one that is home to evergreen staples like cashmere sweaters, layering tops, and the elusive “perfect leather jacket”. These items are more general, slow burn type pieces, and my hunt for them is constant but somewhat passive. I’m always keeping my eyes peeled at the thrift, but I’m not hunting them down with any level of urgency. The Wish List, on the other hand, is made up of the items that feel most relevant for the season at hand. Sometimes they are pulled from the Big List™️, and sometimes they just come out of left field.

Fall 2024 specifics.
LLBean duck shoes- Dare I say the perfect PNW everyday shoe? I resisted these for a long time, something about them feels a bit too on the nose for me, but after trying on a pair at the LLBean store I’m officially ready to give in. I think these would take the place of my clogs on rainy days without sacrificing ease. Initially I thought I would go with the two-tone brown (and YOU agreed via IG poll), but after putting a few different colours into my Indyx wishlist and making some outfits, I realized that the black would actually go a lot further in my wardrobe.

Norda trail runners- specifically this limited edition colourway because you all know by now that I simply cannot resist a pop of red. I spend so much time outside in the Fall and I want a pair of shoes that will feel at home running errands and on the trail. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the fit of Nordas, so I’m very curious to try a pair on. I included these in my Fantasy Outfits post (linked below), and I’ve made no less than a dozen outfits with them in Indyx using pieces already in my wardrobe. I predict that these will make it off the wish list and into my wardrobe this season.
Wool Birkenstock clogs- Or something similar. I like to have a WFH footwear option that isn’t my shearling slippers, but still feels like slippers, and I think a wool clog would be a perfect option.
Bohéme raglan- This is maybe my 3rd( 4th?) time writing about this sweatshirt and I still can’t stop thinking about it. At this point the only thing holding me back from clicking add to cart is the fact that I’ve never been able to try it on and I fear the sleeves will be a mile too long for me.

Tweed coat- They say nothing haunts you like the vintage you didn’t buy, and I know that to be true because I am still thinking about TWO tweed coats that I’ve let slip through my fingers in recent years (one pictured below). Both needed extensive repairs/tailoring, but even with that cost factored in they STILL would have been cheaper than any of the other options I’ve found online (secondhand and new). I’m specifically looking for a brown/grey tweed (not black/white), and only a raglan sleeve/small collar will do.

Glossy coat- I blame Carla for this one (follow her immediately). I love the idea of the contrast between the gloss of the coat and the coziness of my most worn Fall/Winter textures like corduroy and fluffy knits. Practically speaking, I would want one in a neutral like olive/brown/burgundy, but I also still dream of the firecracker red Cordera jacket that I’ve posted about before.

Poncho/Shawl- This is something I’ve been interested in and low-key trying to find for a few seasons now- I really like the idea of something cozy to throw on over longsleeve tees on days when it’s cool and dry. Initially I loved the idea of something kooky with fringe, but there is something undeniably lovely about this more streamlined version from Toast that has me reconsidering. I definitely could knit something along these lines, but I’ll need to have a stern word with myself about the growing list of knitting projects I’m allegedly going to do this Fall and see what the priorities are.

Some honourable mentions from the Big List™️: Cashmere sweaters- navy & grey (impossible to thrift lately, will likely have to go the ebay route), zip-up hoody - ideally grey but navy would also work. Hickory stripe overalls. Light & midweight knits in interesting textures (you know, for layering).

To finish things off, here are some recent acquisitions from wish lists gone by. How fun to finally have an update on some items that have been on the list for what feels like ages! The rhinestone necklace had the shortest turnaround time (3 months), and the denim jacket I’ve been looking for since 2020.

As always, I hope this newsletter leave you feeling inspired and empowered to shop your closet first, and to put some care and attention into the areas of your wardrobe that you might like to expand.

I still need to get my shit together and upload my clothes into Indyx! What a great feature to picture things with outfits you already love. I thrifted a vintage gray cashmere crewneck sweater on Thursday and am over the moon about it. It’s drying after being hand washed. 💧
